Apple spiced cake with apple pie filling and caramelized walnuts between each layer; on top cream cheese frosting and apple rosettes for garnish. This cake was everything I hoped for, and more!

Apple Spiced Cake In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, apple puree, vegetable oil, cinnamon, allspice, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a rubber spatula

Divide the batter evenly between the three prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 30–40 minutes, checking at 30 minutes with a toothpick. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10–15 minutes, then carefully run a knife around the edges and flip each onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Cream Cheese Frosting For the frosting, beat the butter and vanilla extract on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add the cream cheese and lemon juice, mixing just until combined. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.

Assembly To assemble, level the cake layers if needed.  Place the first layer on your cake stand, spread a thin layer of frosting, then pipe a small frosting border around the edges. Spoon half of the apple pie filling inside the border. Repeat with the second layer and remaining apple pie filling, then top with the final layer.

Crumb-coat the cake with a thin layer of frosting and chill for 30 minutes. Finish frosting the entire cake and decorate with caramel sauce and apple slices.
