Chocolate Heart Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2/3 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 Cup cocoa powder
  • 1 Cup powdered sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 Cup Unsalted butter room temperature and cut in small pieces
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Royal icing or candy Melts for decorating

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients in medium speed, until combined. Do not over mix.
    2/3 Cup (83.3 g) all-purpose flour, 1/2 Cup (43 g) cocoa powder, 1 Cup (120 g) powdered sugar, 1 pinch salt, 1 Cup (227 g) Unsalted butter, 1 large egg
  • Pre-heat oven to 350 f. Cover your rolling pin and working surface with a bit of flour; roll the dough to aprox 5 mm thickness and cut your cookies with a 2" round cookie cutter
  • Place cookies on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10-11 mins; remove from the oven and let cool for 3-4 minutes, then transfer over to a wire rack to cool completely
  • Pipe hearts into your cookies with royal icing or candy melts using a guide (paper, ruler, scraper) to stay in a straight line. Let them set and enjoy!
