What is crème brûlée latte made of?
You don’t have to use any fancy ingredients for this recipe. It just needs regular, simple ingredients you can find at any grocery store.
- Espresso. Espresso is like the coffee powerhouse that gives your latte a strong coffee flavor. It’s what makes your latte taste like coffee.
- Whole Milk. Whole milk makes your latte creamy and smooth. It’s what gives your latte its nice, rich texture.
- Vanilla Extract. Vanilla extract is like the secret flavor booster, and it also helps enhance other flavors.
- Brown Sugar: Brown sugar is used to sweeten your latte. It’s what makes it taste sugary and a little bit like caramel.
- Caramel Sauce: Caramel sauce will help give the caramel flavor to your crème brûlée latte recipe. I used store-bought regular caramel syrup, but you can use homemade caramel sauce instead.
- Whipped Cream: Whipped cream is the perfect finish to top your delicious latte. It’s what makes it look decadent and adds a creamy taste when you sip.
- Caramel Hard Candies: These are like the sweet, crunchy bits on top of the whipped cream. They make it look pretty and enhance the caramel flavor.

Ingredient substitutions
- Dairy-free version: Replace dairy milk with almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, or oat milk, along with dairy-free caramel sauce and dairy-free whipped topping. Create a creamy and indulgent caramel brulee latte suitable for those with lactose intolerance or a preference for non-dairy options.
- Caramel hard candy substitution: Instead of crushed hard candy, cut stroopwafel in small bits and sprinkle on top of the whipped cream. This will give you a softer, less crunchy, topping
- Brown sugar: You can substitute the brown sugar with regular sugar.
Variations
- Iced Creme brûlée latte: Transform the classic recipe into an iced latte by adding ice cubes to your caramel latte
- Caramel Brulee Latte affogato: Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to your indulgent coffee drink for a twist
- Spiced Caramel Brulee Latte: Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a spiced drink
- Caramel Brulee Latte with a Splash of Irish Cream: For a grown-up treat, add a splash of Irish cream liqueur to your caramel latte, giving it a rich and boozy dimension.
- Caramel Brulee Latte with a Cookie Crumble Topping: Crush your favorite cookies and sprinkle them on top of your latte

How to make espresso
Here are a few easy ways to make espresso for your caramel brulee latte recipe.
- Espresso Machine: An espresso machine is like a fancy coffee maker. Fill it with water, put finely ground coffee in its special filter, and turn it on. The machine pushes hot water through the coffee, making a strong shot of espresso.
- Moka Pot: A Moka Pot is a metal coffee pot you use on the stove. Fill the bottom with water, add finely ground coffee in its special basket, and put it on the stove. As it heats up, the water goes through the coffee and comes out as espresso-like coffee in the top part.
- French Press: For espresso-like coffee with a French press, use finely ground dark roast coffee beans. Put the coffee in the press, pour hot water over it, and stir. Then, put the lid on and let it sit for about four minutes. Push the plunger down slowly, and you’ll have strong coffee that’s like espresso.
- Aeropress: The Aeropress is a portable coffee maker. Put a filter in the cap, add finely ground coffee, and pour hot water over it. Stir, put the cap on, and press it down slowly. You’ll get a bold coffee that’s similar to a rich espresso.

Place 2 caramel hard candies in a zip lock bag, close it, and crush them using a rolling pin until you have small pieces of crunchy caramel. Set aside.
In a small saucepan, heat on medium heat the regular milk, brown sugar, and caramel sauce until the sugar is dissolved and the milk mixture is hot.
Add the vanilla extract and espresso and mix.

Pour the mixture into a cup of coffee of your choice, top with whipped cream, add a drizzle of caramel sauce, and sprinkle with the caramel bits on top. Enjoy while still warm!
How to store this Starbucks caramel brulee latte
If, by some chance (though it’s unlikely!), You end up with some extra hot latte, let it cool down to room temperature, then put it in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When you’re ready to enjoy it again, you can either warm it up or have it cold.
