Chocolate Chip OREO Brownies
This Chocolate Chip OREO Brownies are the best chocolatey and fudgy brownies ever! with chunks of OREO cookies and chocolate chips. It’s the perfect mix between an OREO and a brownie
They’re made with black cocoa powder, which makes them very similar in flavor and color to the cookie, plus they’re super easy to make!

What is black cocoa powder?
Black Cocoa powder is cocoa powder that’s been processed to achieve a very rich, very dark color. It has a smoother and less bitter taste, and it’s naturally black (no black food color!)
This cocoa powder is also used to make OREO cookies -now you know why they’re so black! and gives them a very distinct chocolate flavor.
Can I substitute black cocoa powder for Dutch processed cocoa powder?
Yes, you can. But the taste of your brownies will be of a more regular chocolate rather than the original cookie.

What is the secret to chewy brownies?
Chewy and gooey brownies have a higher fat content than cakey brownies, in this case butter.
The butter-to-flour ratio is higher than if you’re looking for a more cake-like brownie, where you will find a recipe with more flour and baking powder.
Also, over-beating your brownie batter and over-baking your brownies will have as a result dryer and more cake-like brownies.
This fudgy brownie recipe is better accomplished if you follow all of the rules above! follow the recipe closely, measure your ingredient correctly, do not over-beat the dough or over-bake your brownies.

Ingredients you’ll need for these Chocolate Chip OREO Brownie Bars
- All-purpose flour. For fudgy brownies, the dry ingredients must be less than the fat content
- Black Cocoa powder. The star of the show! this is what will give the color and flavor similar to an OREO to your brownies
- Brown sugar. To sweeten your brownies and make them soft
- Eggs. At room temperature so they mix more evenly with the rest of the ingredients
- Butter. Unsalted and melted. This is the fat content in your brownies, and will help make your brownies gooey and fudgy
- Vanilla extract. Pure vanilla extract goes a long way!
- Salt. To enhance the flavors
- OREO Cookies. To add to the filling and as a topping
- Semi sweet chocolate Chips or chopped chocolate bar. As a garnish and to add more to the chocolate flavor to the brownie batter

Cut this delicious dessert in 16 small squares and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a cup of hot fudge to drizzle on top.
Expert tips for the perfect dessert
- Measure the flour and cocoa powder using a spoon, scooping the flour or sugar into your measuring cup without compacting it, then using the back of a knife to level it.
- Use room temperature eggs so they mix better with the rest of the ingredients. If pressed on time, allow eggs to sit -completely covered- in warm (no hot) water for 3-5 minutes.
- Once the flour is added to your brownies, mix with a rubber spatula just until combined. Do not over mix your dough!
- Do not over bake your brownies. Check them after 20 minutes, if a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out wet, bake them for one more minute and check again. Toothpick should come out with a few crumbs in it, not completely clean
How do you keep brownies soft and moist?
You need to store your homemade brownies in an airtight container at room temperature and away from any heat sources to keep them from drying out.
They will last 3 to 4 days when stored at room temperature, and up to one week if refrigerated.

Can I freeze brownies?
Sure! brownies freeze really well, and you can extend their life in the freezer.
Store them in a freezable, airtight container, in layers. Place parchment paper between each brownie layer to avoid them from sticking together.
If your container is not sealing properly, add a layer of plastic wrap between the lid and the container, then secure the lid on top. This is to avoid any freezer burn.
Freeze them for up to 3 months
